Retouching Photos

Depending on how badly worn are these photos it is quite possible these photos can be restored. The process Dade would use is as follows:

We start by using a professional scanner from Microtek (ArtixScan 1800f) that can take prints as large as 8.5 by 14. This unit can also process slides or negatives in these formats: 35mm; 6 by 4.5; 6 by 6; 6 by 7; and 4 by 5 inch. There is some preliminary editing that can be done by the software as it scans the image being transferred into Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Once in Adobe Photoshop CS4 there are a number of things that can be done:

• In some cases the old original photos are smaller than today’s standard of 4” by 6” so we can increase the overall size of the image assuming you wanted it reprinted as a 5” by 7” or an 8” by 10”.
• We can remove most if not all the dust, scratches and fingerprints that may be on the original image.
• We can lighten or darken certain areas that may have been under or over exposed and washed out.
• We can straighten the images by that I mean the horizon because sometimes the photographer was not making sure his camera was level.
• Perhaps there are objects, people, trees, poles in the background you would like to see removed to improve the overall look of the photo.
• Perhaps you would like to see the image cropped so as to make someone or an object the central focus of the photo.
