What's Inside My Nature Photography Image Gallery?

Inside my image gallery you will see that it is all about Capturing Nature's Light. It means the majority of the nature images that have been captured using "natural light". Very few (if any) of the images have been enhanced with a flash, strobe or any other electronic means. The images displayed were taken very early in the morning or late in the afternoon using only the daylight available at that time of day. It means:- Making the best use of available sunlight.
- Using clouds to enhance the background.
- Using overcast days to have provide a good even diffused light and eliminate shadows when you are in the forest or are standing over an open flower.
- Taking your time to get the right exposure.
- In many cases longer exposures.
- Opening up to allow in more light.
- Changing white balance settings.
- Adjusting exposure compensation.
- Using a large piece of tinfoil to provide additional reflected light
- Using that same piece of tinfoil to reduce the wind movement in branches, leaves and flowers.
Eliminating or reducing wind movement is one of the reasons I shoot in the early mornings or late in the day because the wind only picks up once the sun is well above the horizon and it slows down late in the afternoon around after 5:00pm. These are the times when the natural light is at its best. Low in the sky, and provides warm color and wonderful shadows. Photographer's NicheIf you have entered this page from my About Us page I make reference to each photographer finding his own Niche. So, when exploring this image gallery, you will see what that my niche is all about getting "up close and personal" with a lot of my subjects.I believe that it makes for more interesting & sometimes dramatic photographs, especially when a 1"-2" object has been enlarged to a 9" by 13" image and placed in a 16" by 20" frame. You'll see more of the texture of the subject and its details "that most people would simply walk on by", to quote a good friend of mine who was commenting on my image gallery.
Highlights of the images you will see...- In my black and white image gallery, the majority of these images were actually shot in color (in some cases slides) & then converted to Black and White using Adobe Photoshop CS4. Many of these you will find displayed in their original color in other parts of my Gallery. View examples...
